The Changi International Airport – Terminal 5 is new superstructure including construction of the Terminal Building, Satellite Terminals, Ground Transport Centre (MRT, Road, ATM), Cargo Complex, Landside Roads, Taxiways, Aircraft Parking Stands, Jet Loading Bridge, 18km-long network of tunnels interconnecting terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4, baggage handling facilities and all supporting infrastructure (gas, fuel, water, telecommunications).

Rail Planning Services were engaged by KPF to assist in the development of the superstructure construction schedule. Scope included the review concept design documentation and liaison with specialist engineering groups to develop the appropriate construction methodology and associated production rates. Our team reviewed overall methodology to achieve required key milestone dates and liaised with specialist airport systems contractors in developing construction methodology.

The new terminal is set to be one of the world’s biggest airport terminals built on a 1,080ha greenfield site located to the east of the airport. T5 will be able to handle up to 50 million passengers a year in the initial phase of operation, increasing the airport’s total annual passenger handling capacity to 135 million.
